Car Insurance for Disabled Drivers and Passengers
Our disability car insurance policy specifically covers adapted cars and WAVs. New for 2023, you can now purchase your cover from us online at your own convenience.
Some general insurers may ask for the values of your adaptations in order to provide cover for them. As a disability car insurance specialist, we know that if your car is adapted it’s not typically to boost its performance or looks, but to be more functional for you. So, as long as you tell us it’s adapted for your disability needs, these items will be covered.
That’s why it’s important to compare the benefits of specialised disability car insurance cover with standard policies because you need to make sure the insurer understands your needs and is offering the right cover for you.
Key features
Courtesy Car – if your car is being repaired by one of our approved garages then we’ll offer you a courtesy car for as long as your car is being repaired. We will always try our best to ensure this meets your mobility needs. But we don’t offer this if it has been stolen and unrecovered, or if we have decided not to repair your car, or if you have taken it to a garage of your choice.
Breakdown Cover – if your car breaks down we’ll repair or recover it. If roadside assistance is not available or a temporary repair is not possible, we will arrange and pay the costs of transportation of 8 passengers, including the driver, to be recovered to a single destination within 19 miles of the incident. European cover is available at an additional cost. Cover doesn’t include the cost of any parts used to fix your car.
Car Adaptations – We will cover loss or damage to vehicle adaptations for replacement as new up to the limit stated on the schedule. Excludes any deliberate damage by anyone allowed to drive under the policy and any changes or modifications to the car that have not been disclosed.
These are just some of the features in our policy. For a full list of benefits and exclusions, please refer to the Insurance Product Information Document.
